DID YOU KNOW?

Drinking vinegars have been around for quite some time! Often referred to as a Shrub, it was sold in most public houses throughout England in the 17th and 18th centuries. The practice carried over to colonial America and by the 19th century, where typical recipes for shrubs used the same style of vinegar poured over ripe fruit. The sweet-and-sour syrup could be mixed with either water or soda water and served as a soft drink, or it could be used as a mixer in alcoholic cocktails. After refrigeration became the norm, shrubs were almost forgotten; but with their intense and complex flavours they are being discovered all over again.
